Mahalo Walkers, Donors & Sponsors

Thanks to everyone in the community who supported Hale Aloha O Hilo Habitat for Humanity's Walk-a-Thon 2008 on Saturday, August 23.

Mahalo to the Keaukaha hoolaulea organizers, who generously shared space and helped advertise the 3K walk, which passed by three Habitat homes in Keaukaha and the site of a fourth home yet to be built. The money raised will be used to help build the next three East Hawaii Habitat homes in Keaukaha, Nanawale, and Volcano.

Special thanks to:

-HomeStreet Bank, who made a $2,000 corporate donation, in addition to staffing an aid station, preparing tasty fresh fruit as part of the refreshments, and arriving on the scene early for set-up.

-Hilo Bay Rotary Club, who adopted the walk as a service project, providing walkers and also staffing an aid station.

-Hawaiian Springs, for donating lots of refreshing water, so welcome after the walk

-KTA, for donating fruit and ice to complete the healthy refreshments

-Cronies & SuperCuts, for their prize donations, as well as other individual donors

-Pastor John Trusdell and Living Waters Assembly of God for providing tables and chairs, as well as walkers, setup, and tear-down assistance

-Martha Bell and Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, for bringing a team of walkers and sponsors, as well as helping with setup and tear-down

-Amy Shiroma and Church of the Holy Cross, for the most number of sponsors

-Dawn Bohol and the Bohol family and friends, who generously supported the event

-Julie Hugo of Aiona Island Realty for chairing the event and providing hands-on leadership before, during and after the event, not to mention beautiful photography

-Teen Court families, who got up early to provide transportation so that their teens could be onsite at 6:30 a.m. to help with setup

-Sponsors and donors who supported the walkers

-Habitat volunteers and staff, who came early, stayed late, and made the event possible

Thank you for your support of affordable housing in East Hawaii!
